This notice explains to parents and legal guardians which data the app processes.

Who is Axolino for?
Axolino is designed for children aged 2 to 5 and is set up by parents or legal guardians.
The app does not require a user account. There is no login and no child profile page.
Which data does Axolino process?
Axolino processes only data that is needed to use the app, show learning progress, and unlock Premium features:
- selected language
- app settings such as sound, game mode, and difficulty
- confirmation that the Privacy Notice was shown
- screen-time settings such as daily limit, break interval, and break duration
- local screen-time and break values needed to apply these limits
- learning progress, learned content, and trophies
- play statistics such as correct and wrong answers, playtime, sessions, and streaks
- which learning content has already been seen or requested
- Premium or purchase status from Google Play
How is the data used?
The data is used to remember app settings, show learning progress and trophies, apply screen-time limits and breaks, and unlock Premium features.
Play statistics are used so parents can view progress inside the app.
Legal basis
Legal basis: To the extent that the data listed above may be personal data, processing is carried out to provide the app functions, in particular to store settings, learning progress, screen-time functions, and Premium features. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where processing is necessary for using the app, and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for legitimate interests in a secure, functional, and child-appropriate app.
Local storage
The app data listed above is stored locally on the device. It is not sent to Genie Elements' own servers.
Local data is stored in Android's protected app storage.
Depending on Android and Google account settings, local app data may be included in Android backups or device transfer. This is controlled by Android or Google.
Google Play Billing and Premium
Axolino uses Google Play Billing when Premium is purchased or a subscription is managed.
Google processes the data needed for the purchase, such as Google account, payment status, and transaction information. Axolino only receives information about whether Premium is active.
Axolino does not store payment data. Payments, subscriptions, and refunds are handled through Google Play.
Google's Privacy Policy applies to data processing by Google.
Sharing and recipients
Axolino does not send learning progress, trophies, settings, screen-time data, or play statistics to its own servers.
Third-party processing only takes place where it is needed for Google Play Billing, Android/Google system functions such as backup or device transfer, or external links opened by parents.
For Google Play Billing, Google is an independent recipient of the data required for that purpose.
Data transfer and security
The app does not allow unencrypted cleartext traffic. Where data is transferred for Google Play Billing or external HTTPS pages, encrypted connections are used.
Local app data is stored in the app's protected storage area.
Retention and deletion
Local app data remains stored on the device until it is deleted.
- Progress can be reset in the app. This resets progress, trophies, and statistics where the app function is designed to do so.
- App data can be deleted through Android settings. This removes local app data from the device.
- Uninstalling the app removes local app data from the device.
Google Play purchases and subscriptions are separate. They remain in the Google Play account and must be managed or cancelled there.
Children and families
Axolino is designed for children aged 2 to 5. Parent areas, settings, and purchase flows are protected by a simple parent check.
Axolino does not collect personal data actively entered by children and does not offer children any way to enter names, email addresses, photos, voice recordings, messages, or other personal content.
Parents and legal guardians should review screen-time and Premium settings regularly.
Rights and contact
Parents and legal guardians have, under applicable data protection law, in particular rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Because Axolino does not transmit personal data to its own servers, locally stored data can be deleted directly in the app, through Android app settings, or by uninstalling the app.

Changes
This Privacy Notice may be updated when features, data processing, or legal requirements change.
